What we believe

Scripture

Scripture

We believe that all Scripture, both the Old and New Testament, is inspired by God, preserved through the centuries and is our supreme authority in all doctrine, conduct, patterns, and values of life. (II Tim. 3:16-17, II Pet. 1:21)

God

God

Trinity We believe in one God, eternal and self existent, Creator of Heaven and earth, loving and merciful, holy and just. Within the unity of the Godhead there are three distinct persons, Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. (Gen. 1:1, Luke 3:22, John 10:30, 14:8-11, 15:15-26)

The Father

The Father

We believe that God the Father, with great mercy and endless love for the world, yet maintaining justice and perfect righteousness, sent his Son to reconcile man back into personal relationship with Himself and to make possible our gracious adoption as His children. (John 3:16)

The Son

The Son

We believe in the absolute deity of the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, who has existed from all eternity.

He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary and lived a perfect sinless life. On the cross He died in our place taking the punishment which is rightfully ours.

Jesus rose from the dead bodily by the power of God, demonstrating His victory over death. He ascended to heaven, is now exalted at the Father's right hand making intercession for His people.

Jesus Christ will return personally and historically in power and glory as King of Kings and Lord of Lords and to judge the living and the dead. (Phil. 2:5-11, Col. 1:15-20, I Pet. 3:21-25, Heb. 1:1-3, Rev. 19:16, 20:11-15)

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit, who is co-equal with the Father and the Son, has been sent to indwell, teach, guide and empower every believer and to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgement.

He makes the presence and power of God tangible and personal. A Christian's growth and maturity are directly related to his intimacy in walking with and hearing the voice of the Spirit.

Each believer should be baptised in and continually filled with the Holy Spirit so that the presence and power of Jesus are constant and conscious realities to them.

It is the Holy Spirit who gives spiritual gifts and produces spiritual fruit in the life of believers in order that the church may be built up and that the world around us may see Jesus at work today. (II Cor. 3.17-18, Rom. 8:11, John 14:25-26, 16:8, Acts 1:5, 2:38-39, Eph. 5:18, I Cor. 12:4-11, Gal. 5:22-23)

Salvation and Eternal Life

Salvation and Eternal Life

We believe that God created man in His own image for fellowship with Himself. Tempted by Satan, man fell into sin and rebellion through disobedience which alienated and destined him to eternal separation from God.

Reconciliation with Him is found only in the Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe that personal faith in Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord is the only condition for salvation, forgiveness of sins, and eternal life. In response to this expression of faith God regenerates us, sealing and indwelling the believer which the Holy Spirit. This salvation is wholly by God's grace, apart from our works.

We believe the "normal Christian birth" consists of true repentance and genuine faith. It is expressed and effected in water-baptism, with a conscious reception of the gift / baptism of the Holy Spirit with power. (Gen. 1:25-27, Rom. 1:18-32, 3:23, 6:23, II Cor. 5:17-19, John 3:16-18, Eph. 2:8-10, Acts 2:38-

The Church

The Church

We believe that the Church of Jesus, while expressed locally, is worldwide in scope and nature. The Church of Jesus Christ is His Body and bride, she is the temple and the army of the living God, she is the pillar of truth and the light of the world.

The Church consists of all those who believe in Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord and are born again of the Holy Spirit.

We believe in the function of the five-fold ministry which God has given to the church to mature and equip believers .

As His ambassadors, the Church is commissioned to proclaim the good news of the kingdom and to disciple the nations. (I Tim. 3:15, Matt. 28:18-20, I Cor. 12:13, Eph. 4:11-12)
